We have been retained by an AI-driven Healthcare SaaS platform that empowers health trusts, private medical providers, and clinical research organizations to automate clinical workflows and patient monitoring. Backed by top-tier European healthcare VCs, the business is scaling rapidly and seeking a visionary Chief Technology Officer to lead their global engineering, product infrastructure, and security teams.
Position Overview
The CTO will serve as a core member of the Executive Leadership Team, reporting directly to the CEO. You will define the long-term technical vision, scale high-performing engineering teams (currently 40+ engineers across Europe), and ensure the architecture remains secure, compliant (HIPAA/GDPR), and highly scalable.
Key Responsibilities:
- Architect and drive the technology strategy for a multi-tenant, cloud-native SaaS platform built on AWS and Kubernetes.
- Oversee data privacy, ISO 27001, Cyber Essentials Plus, and healthcare regulatory compliance requirements.
- Lead, mentor, and expand engineering, DevOps, QA, and security organizations.
- Work alongside the Chief Product Officer to balance technical debt reduction with aggressive feature delivery roadmaps.
- Act as the technical authority during due diligence for future funding rounds and strategic M&A activities.
Key Requirements:
- 10+ years in software engineering leadership roles (VP Engineering, Head of Engineering, CTO) within B2B SaaS.
- Explicit background in Healthcare Tech, MedTech, or highly regulated data environments (ISO 27001, HIPAA, GDPR).
- Strong hands-on background with microservices architecture, Python/Node.js, cloud deployment (AWS/Azure), and AI/ML model integration.
- Demonstrated track record of scaling engineering organizations from 30 to 100+ team members.
- Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
